The fourth Congenital and Perinatal Infections Consortium (CPIC) Pilot Project was awarded to Monika Dietrich, MD, an assistant professor in pediatric infectious diseases at Tulane University.
Dr. Dietrich’s project, “Early postnatal cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in infancy and gastrointestinal manifestations,” was funded in September of 2023. She is utilizing collected stool samples to compare colonic microbiome composition between infants with postnatal CMV infection before 3 months of age to those not infected in a highly CMV seroprevalent environment.
Progress will be reported at the annual CPIC meeting on October 18, 2024, which takes place adjacent to IDWeek 2024.
